Donte Whitner of the Buffalo Bills believes community health is an issue that deserves attention. He believes strongly in raising awareness to the community about diseases that are killing us at a rate that continues to increase due to lack of knowledge, support, and funds. Lung cancer kills more men and women every year than cervical, prostate and breast cancer combined. Finding a cure for cancer had become a personal goal for Donte when he found out that his Grandmother who raised him along side his mother developed lung cancer. So it is no surprise that he is fully committed to helping her and others fight this life threatening disease. His grandmother is now receiving the best care possible at Cleveland Clinic, but he didn’t want to stop there. He wanted to break the cycle of unawareness, which gave him the idea for his Annual CANCER STRIKE! He will host the 1st Annual Cancer Bowling Tournament July 21, 2007 at the Corner Alley in Cleveland, Oh.
