Donte Whitner of the Buffalo Bills "Kid Brother" Malcolm Hills Benefit

Last month the Hills family contacted us about their 13-year-old son Malcolm Hills is in stage 4 of Osteosarcoma. The cancer started in his hip, he had complained to his father that his hip was in a lot of pain. His dad being his coach for football, basketball and track, thought that maybe he had "just" bruised his hip since he was so active.
Malcolm's pain had become so excruciating that his parents knew that something wasn't right! In March of 2007 they took him to the hospital to only find out that Malcolm had stage 4 cancer in his hip. The diagnosis has a long name, so please forgive me for not having the correct terminology! The cancer is common in African American men ages 13-17. Both his mother and father blamed themselves and then blamed each other, but only to come together to realize that God uses people, and this is what he is doing with Malcolm!

Malcolm had begun his treatment to now find out that the cancer had spread to his lungs. Then he finds out that the very treatment that is supposed to help him get better he is allergic to. The beautiful staff of Rainbow Babies and Children's is trying their best to fight the cancer with Malcolm! Let me tell you that this young man is a fighter, when you look at him he gives you strength, courage and determination. His parents admire his strength because when they are sad he lifts their spirits up.

He has also touched the Buffalo Bills strong safety Donte Whitner, and his family. About a month ago we heard Malcolm's story and Donte was compelled to help and do something. Malcolm stated all he wanted to do was play football again and grow his hair back. Donte said to us "Bring him to a game, I want to make him happy. Whatever it is he needs provide it for him". This young man doesn't have the choice to not have cancer, and the choice of working hard to be the great quarterback, point guard, and track star that he was determined to be was taken away.

On Nov. 4, 2007 Malcolm Hills and his family attended the Buffalo Bills vs. the Cincinnati Bengals game in Buffalo. His first pro game, and he had a ball! He watched one of his heroes Donte Whitner point up to the suite we set in, letting him know that he was playing for him. Malcolm had a wonderful interview with Donte and he met everyone from Lee Evans, Rudi Johnson, J.P Losman, Marshawn Lynch, Carson Palmer, Robert Royal and many more! Donte stated to him "we will watch you play again brother, don’t worry". Malcolm now considers the ladies of TuffLuv his sisters and Donte Whitner his "Big Brother".

The day after he attended the game, Malcolm was admitted back into the hospital because fluid had built up on his lungs. He had an operation to drain the fluid off of his lungs, and spiritually he is stronger then ever! Malcolm and his family will have to travel to a research hospital to treat his cancer because the treatment and Rainbow Babies and Children's are not working. He speaks to Donte on a regular basis and we are praying that everything will work out. So please keep this young man and family in your prayers.

There will be a benefit held for Malcolm this Sunday Nov. 18, 2007 @ 2pm.
