Donte Whitner of the Buffalo Bills Honored for His Community Efforts.

Donte Whitner strong safety of the Buffalo Bills has made his mark in his surrounding communities through his efforts to enrich and educate. He prides his self in setting up programs geared towards his initiatives health, single parenting preparedness, and education. He has hosted events such as his 1st Annual Cancer Strike Bowling Tournament, Retreats for single mothers and single fathers, he has donated school supplies and uniforms for students. His upcoming events include but are not limited to: Whitner’s Stop the Violence Tour, Camp Team 20, Read to Achieve, and Impact Plays, Impact Families. Many recognize him for his explosiveness on the field and more and more for his seriousness off the field when it comes to giving back. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was founded by Martin Luther King Jr. SCLC educates the youth and adults in the areas of personal responsibility, leadership potential, and community service. The first conference was held on January 10 and 11, 1957. The Cleveland Chapter had its Seventh Annual Martin Luther King Gala. The SCLC has followed what Donte continues to do for the communities in Cleveland, Buffalo, and Ghana, West Africa. He will receive the Excellence In Sportsmanship Award, On January 11, 2008 and honor giving to those who exemplify the discipline, drive and determination to encourage others to get involved and make a difference.
